You have to use the Quake 2 multiplayer starter pack to play online, fan made patch. It's completely free too, Quake 2 online multiplayer is still being played all the time. Just takes some know how and some googleing.

Best thing about Quake is the air-strafing. And then Valve forked the quake engine and made Half-Life, and then they made some other games like Counter Strike: GO and Team Fortress 2. All of which have air-strafing. I love it. I daydream about jumping around and moving sideways midair going around corners.

You should do something like counter strike but you are able to drop nades, armor, Zeus, and defuse kits. It wouldn't change much, but it would be interesting to see the strata that would come out of it.

Imagine the frame rate if this used a non-real time renderer like Cycles or Vray or something.

The only two things I don't like about this 'RTX' are: 1. Weapons don't just look high quality, they look different, as though polished, but supposed to look more rough and used, and in that regard I like the old ones more 2. Everything looks very saturated. 1:45 you can see just how much 'warmer' everything becomes, and that just seems wrong. P.S. I never played quake or quake II until like trying out a year ago, so no nostalgia factor in my opinion. I do like when things look a bit more 'colder' (blueish) than 'warmer' (yellowish) so maybe a bit of bias there :)
